Truth is Ramona's subspace abilities would be very attracting to other factions around Earth. Seriously Gideon's motives are just plain greedy so he can't use her abilities that nice. Unless the other superpowers learn about this, not just the US but Russia China and other powers with in the Top superpower list would send their operators with agents to hunt down Ramona for the nations' security & 'national interests'.
