2 Scott 2 Pilgrim is the seventh episode of Scott Pilgrim Takes Off. It was released on 17 November 2023 on Netflix along with the rest of the series.
Synopsis[]
Unfinished business, mind-blowing revelations - and a mix of lovers, friends and exes. What could go wrong?
Plot[]
Just before Matthew Patel can punch him, Scott Pilgrim is pulled into the vegan portal. After falling through the portal, Scott lands in a pool of water. Scott learns he is now in the future. The man who took him through the portal, unveils himself to be an older Scott Pilgrim, now thirty-seven years old. Scott and Future Scott make small talk while walking through the city, and board a streetcar that takes them to an awesome mansion. Whilst showing him around, Scott asks if he is here for a reason, as he was in the middle of fighting Patel. When Scott asks what happened with, Future Scott replies that fighting the Evil Exes was the worst mistake he ever made, because they won.
Scott is taken to a VR chamber beneath the mansion. Future Scott plugs a memory into the headset. Scott views the memories of fighting the Evil Exes and the good times with his friends and Ramona. The memories show all the Exes and Scott's wedding to Ramona, after defeating Gideon, as well as a honeymoon in Florida. We also see their anniversary. But the final memory is something different: Scott and Ramona divorced. Future Scott tells Scott that there were some great memories (between the honeymoon and the divorce) that weren't there.
During the rest of the tour, Future Scott reveal he has started a new band with the Twins, called "Pop'n TwinBee". He shows them their latest music video. Soon after, it is revealed that Future Scott shares the mansion with Future Wallace Wells. Wallace is married, and his husband works at Nintendo. Future Scott tells him he is just crashing there, so he can figure stuff out with Ramona.
This was all revealed to be Wallace's idea, even though he was joking. Scott asks how time travel was possible, so Future Scott tells him it was Robot-01 who did the travelling. Scott pieces together why this is happening. Future Scott kidnapped Scott, so that his heart would not be broken later on, when he and Ramona start having problems, and he won't send him back unless he refuses to pursue his relationship with Ramona, despite the fact that A), he and Future Ramona can work it out or B) he could tell Scott what he did wrong, to ensure that he won't repeat the same mistakes. When he asks, Future Wallace states that his break up with Ramona was more emotionally devastating than his break up with Envy. Scott plugs Robot-01 into the VR headset, allowing him to view the memory of his fight with Patel.
Meanwhile, the Future Ramona is delivering packages. Scott and Future Wallace pay her a visit, and she tells them that she knows about the "idiotic" time travel plan, so she came up with a back-up plan. Sometime in the future Future Young Neil writes a memoir, Scott and Ramona and Me: My Precious BIG Life as Scott Pilgrim's Best Pal. She wanted Scott to read their story, so she sent it back in time. Since Scott does not read books, she wrote it into a screenplay, which Young Neil attempted to adapt into the movie. Since the movie fell apart, she admits the plan was a disaster, but she wanted to give it a try because Scott is the love of her life. However, by viewing Robot-01's memory through the headset, he was able to peer into the past see Ramona's ongoing investigations. Future Ramona says that his Ramona sounds pretty cool, so they come up with a plan to make sure she gets what she wants.
The two of them travel back through time, ending up with their friends. The two Ramonas say hi to each other and pose for photos before Future Ramona departs. Knives gives Scott back his parka. Scott apologizes to Knives for cheating on her with Ramona, saying they should have broken up sooner and a 23-year old dating a high schooler is "frowned upon by society". Knives tells him she is glad he's alive, but was also glad when he was dead, as it gave her time look upon herself and grow as a person, and she thanks him for it.
Scott reunites with Ramona, glad that he is alive. They try to kiss, but a force field (an "Anti-Kiss" field) appears, keeping their lips apart. They keep trying to break the field, whilst Knives, Kim Stephen, and Young Neil watch on and laugh. Ramona takes it to mean that there is unfinished emotional business, and Scott thinks he still has to defeat the Evil Exes. Knives decides that they should go to the opening of Scott Pilgrim's Precious Little Musical (the play that Knives and Stephen pitched to Matthew Patel), as all the Exes will be gathered there.
The play opens that night. Matthew Patel, Lucas Lee, Todd Ingram, Envy Adams, Roxie Richter, Kyle and Ken Katayanagi, Robot-01, Julie Powers and Gideon Graves are all in attendance. The group, joined by Wallace Wells and Stacey Pilgrim attend as well; Ramona asks if everyone has their tickets. When they all nod their head, she declares it's time for the big finale.
