Future Scott Pilgrim, also known as Old Scott and Even Older Scott, (born September 27th, 1981) is one of the possible futures of Scott Pilgrim featured in Scott Pilgrim Takes Off as the main antagonist.
Biography[]
After defeating Ramona's seven Evil Exes, Scott Pilgrim eventually marries the love of his life Ramona. However, 13 years later, and now older, Old Scott and Ramona eventually have an argument and separate from one another entirely. Following this, he reacquaints with the Katayanagi Twins, forms a new band with them, Pop'n TwinBee, and becomes overweight.
This prompts Old Scott to try and go back in time and stop himself from loving Ramona, fuelled by Wallace's encouragement, who was joking, and his new non-evil-ex friends: The Katayanagi Twins with their futuristic companion Robot-01.
Eventually, Scott achieved time travel and set off to kidnap his younger self, and made it appear that Matthew Patel, the first Evil Ex of Ramona, defeated him, indirectly setting off the events to the series.
After pulling Scott through the Vegan Portal, Old Scott initially ignores his younger self's questions as he is overwhelmed and confused as to what was happening. After arriving in the future, Old Scott looks down towards his younger self as he begins to realise that his kidnapper is himself from the future.
After walking in Downtown Toronto, Scott asks his older self many questions about where they are at in the future, asking if they are rich and famous, and have won awesome fights, to which Old Scott responds by saying that they "do ok". His younger self then compliments his older self's beard, something which Old Scott appreciates as no one else appeared to do so.
Old Scott takes his younger self to his mansion, which in actual fact, turns out to be Wallace and Mobile's. There, he shows his younger self what happened during the events, from battling the Evil Exes to the divorce of Ramona. After Old Wallace interrupts Old Scott and Scott, they talk in the kitchen and Old Scott reveals to Scott that he took him away from Ramona on purpose. Unbeknownst to Scott, Old Scott puts nanobots in his iced tea which prevented Scott from kissing Ramona, something which he dubbed the Anti-Kiss Field.
After being taken aback by Scott's comments when he assumed that it was himself that messed up, Old Scott states his intent on trapping his younger self in the future unless he gives up on dating Ramona, claiming that she was in the wrong, and not them. Old Wallace explains to Scott that Old Scott's breakup with Ramona was like "Envy Adams, times ten", to which Scott was astounded by.
Due to the inevitability of Scott and Ramona still getting together with the help of Ramona's future self, Old Scott decides to not talk to her, and after later getting kicked out of Wallace and Mobile's mansion, Old Scott moves into an apartment and begins training in a plan to ensure that Scott and Ramona do not get together in the end, which turns him into Even Older Scott.
During his time in the room, he begins to lose the weight put on and studies his younger self's skills, strengths and weaknesses in an attempt to defeat and destroy his younger self.
Ten years pass, revenge fuelling him the entire way through. Now 47 years old, his body chiselled, his mental health questioned, Scott, now even older, decides to finish the job and try to defeat his younger self. He teleports Scott, Ramona, along with some of his friends as well as the Evil Exes from the premiere of Scott Pilgrim's Precious Little Musical, to the Dream Desert.
There, Even Older Scott begins to punch and assault his younger self, and then continues fighting the others, he punches the highlights out of Knives Chau's hair, and nearly chokes Gideon Graves to death. After fighting back with the Musical Shield, everyone except Scott and Ramona are sent back to the theatre, and Even Older Scott is ready to finish Scott and Ramona for good. Scott takes his even older self head on and proclaims that he needs to let him live his life, but Even Older Scott stresses that he is him.
Ramona comes to Scott's aid and tells him "what if he is right", to which Scott states that he never wants to become his even older self. After interrupting their conversation and nearly killing Ramona, Even Older Ramona comes in to stop Even Older Scott. She begins shouting at him for not getting in touch in ten years. After fusing with her younger self to form Super Ramona, Even Older Scott is sent back to the room where he trained. After arriving there, he sarcastically claimed that it was great, before stating that it was not.
Appearance[]
Old Scott Pilgrim[]
Like his younger self, Future Scott has tawny hair but it appears more messier, As he is older, he has grey sideburns alongside. Future Scott also has grown a beard, which is assumed to not be appreciated by anyone other than his younger self.
He also continues to wear his yellow and red star t-shirt and the navy parka, albeit it is more worn out and dirtier. Future Scott is also overweight and is later seen exercising as he turns into Even Older Scott.
Even Older Scott Pilgrim[]
Even Older Scott is much different in appearance than his younger selves. Having built up muscles in the ten years he stayed in the room to train. His hair has grown even more and is now grey instead of the tawny hair his younger selves had.
Even Older Scott also continues to wear his navy parka but it has outgrown him slightly with the X-Men patch and pockets being ripped off with the back of the parka being tattered. Even Older Scott also has bandages on his hands and a tied back headband. His skin is also darker as well.
Powers[]
Even Older Scott mostly uses his strength and durability which he built in the ten years that he was training. He also appears to have the power of transportation as he is able to transport people to subspace. He is able to manipulate and weaponize Gideon's glow, but it is unclear if he can also do that to other powers. It is also implied that he may have vegan powers as he is seen eating broccoli during his training, and similar to Todd, he has levitation powers as well as telekinesis.
Personality[]
After kidnapping his younger self and intending on keeping him in the future to avoid fighting the Evil Exes and dating Ramona, Future Scott comes across as immature and gullible, having believed Wallace who jokingly suggested that he should build a time machine to go back to stop his younger self from dating Ramona.
He is also grief-stricken following his breakup with Future Ramona, with Future Wallace suggesting that the breakup between the two affected Future Scott tens time worse than his breakup with Envy Adams.
Even Older Scott, like regular Scott and Old Scott, is also immature and gullible, although he seems to have gained slightly higher intelligence than his younger selves.
Trivia[]
- Since it is shown that this Scott has not grown up that much, it is possible that he also diverged from the main timeline. With him not even having received the power of understanding or the power of self-respect.
- In the early development of Takes Off, Old Scott was shown to be more built instead of overweight. He also had an X scar on his left shoulder, in potential reference to the X-Men patch on his parka. It is unknown whether the character actually had such a scar in "2 Scott 2 Pilgrim" as Old Scott is only seen with his navy parka on, and can briefly be seen without it on in the flashback in "The World Vs Scott Pilgrim". Even Older Scott is not seen with an X scar on his left shoulder in the finale, which assumes that he didn't have one in the series.
