Monica Beetle

Monica Beetle is the titular character of Bryan Lee O'Malley's short comic, Monica Beetle.

History[]

Whilst at work, a customer came up to Monica, telling her that he was here to pick up his prints. Monica didn't respond and simply stared at him, so Vincent handled the customer, who asked him if Monica was autistic.

A UFO smashed into the building, slicing the man in half. An alien got out and tried to kill Vincent, but Monica saved him by deflecting the blaster bolt with a photo frame. Monica leaped over the desk and beat the alien down. She grabbed the alien's gun and took Vincent by the hand, telling him that they were going to save the world.

Climbing into the spaceship, Vincent asked if she did this sort of stuff, and she told that she was the only person the planet who knew the secret of the alien beings. She told him to press the blue button, not realizing that all of the buttons were blue.

The ship soared out of the building and Vincent tried to ask her, but she told him she was busy. Monica flew the ship into an airplane's cargo bay. After striking a pose and changing her clothes, she asked if he remembered her from high school. When he asked what school she went to, she just told him "never mind".

Trivia[]

  • In the short, Monica striking a pose with her right arm out bears similarity to Scott Pilgrim's similar pose which he does on the front cover of Volume 1, but instead he does it with his left arm.
