"It's time to wake, up dude."

The episode opens up in Scott's Dream Desert. Scott is wandering around, exhausted, mumbling about how he is so alone. As he collapses, he spots a figure in the distance, coming towards him. The figure, a girl, rollerblades past him, telling him to wake up.

"Hey! Hey! I feel fine!"

Scott Pilgrim wakes up, telling Wallace Wells that he has had a dream about the girl again, but Wallace does not care. After having coffee and leaving, Scott heads off for band practice at Stephen Stills's place.

Kim counts them in, and they start playing a song for Young Neil and Knives Chau. Knives compliments them, saying Sex Bob-omb might be the greatest band of all time (Kim disagrees). They play again.

The group heads off to a party at Julie's place. As soon as they get inside Julie's house, Stephen, Kim and Neil all ditch Scott, so he heads off to grab some juice.

Episode1

"Do you know Sonic the Hedgehog?"

While navigating his way through the crowd, Scott sees the girl from his dreams. He drinks the rest of his juice, walks up to her and greets her, before talking about how there were two Sonic the Hedgehog cartoons running throughout the 1990s. She tells him that she also watched cartoons as a kid, mostly re-runs of Columbo.

Scott learns from Julie that the girl's name is "Ramona Flowers", she works as a delivery girl for Netflix, she is from New York, she moved to Toronto after a bad break-up, and she is her only friend. Julie outright forbids Scott from dating her.

Scott, of course, does not listen to her, and when he gets home, the first thing he does is jump onto the Internet. He visits the Netflix website, and Wallace asks him to rent a movie starring Lucas Lee. Scott orders "The Game is Over 2". Scott waits patiently for the DVD, and sometime later, the doorbell rings.

Scott opens the door, to see Ramona Flowers standing outside, with the DVD. She recognizes him as "Sonic Guy". After she mistakes him for Wallace, he explains that he lets him use his credit card. She gives him the DVD and starts to leave.

"Doesn't have to be a date... could just be a low-key team-up? Canada and America joining forces?"

She stops in her tracks when he asks her if she is the girl in his dreams. She confirms this, explaining that it is the result of the Subspace highway that runs through his head. He successfully asks her out on a date.

They meet at the playground. She tells him that she is in Toronto because of her job, meanwhile Scott is "between jobs". Ramona decides to change the subject, as talking about their pasts is her least favorite thing to talk about. After it starts snowing, he asks where she comes from. Scott explains that he comes from up north, so Ramona tells him that he must be used to this weather. She is too, as she comes from the mountains. We zoom out to reveal that is all being watched over by Gideon Graves, who orders that Matthew Patel be brought forth.

Scott and Ramona's date is going well, until the snow starts getting heavier. To escape the snowstorm, she takes him back to her house through a Subspace door. Ramona makes them some tea, before going to get a blanket for him. Scott can't wait this long, so he goes to find her, accidentally stumbling upon in the midst of changing.

"Sparks..."

She is cold, too, and hugs him. They look lovingly into each other's eyes, before kissing. The kiss, shared with their strong feelings towards each other, causes sparks to appear, with both acknowledging this. Their strong feelings lead them to almost end up having sex until Ramona changes her mind.

Matthew Patel arrives before Gideon Graves. He congratulates Graves on creating the League. He fills in Patel on who Scott Pilgrim is and what his current life situation is. He tells Patel how their date has been going, much to Patel's fury.

Gideon then brings up the fact that Scott, who is 23 years old, is dating the seventeen-year-old Knives Chau, something Ramona does not know. Matthew mocks this, saying "And I thought we were evil!". Matthew asks what Scott's fighting proficiency is like, so Gideon brings up his status as "the best fighter in the province". Matthew is happy that this fight will not be easy. Gideon closes off the scene by saying "I hope Scott Pilgrim enjoys the final few days of his precious little life."

Scott wakes up the next day, and Ramona tells him that, since she has to go to work, he has to leave. Not wanting this to be a one-night-stand (for one thing, he didn't even get any), he invites her to Sex Bob-omb's show at the Rockit, at 9:00pm that night.

She agrees. Scott gets back home and tells Wallace about his date. Wallace congratulates him, before telling he needs to break up with Knives. Wallace informs Scott that there is also a letter waiting for him. The letter, from Matthew Patel, informs Scott of their impending fight and the League of Evil Exes. Scott finds the letter boring and throws it away.

The ecstatic Knives Chau arrives at the Rockit, where Wallace introduces her to Scott's sister, Stacey Pilgrim. Stacey tells Knives that she is better than Scott, whilst Wallace realizes that they haven't broken up yet. Scott arrives, causing Knives to yell his name, just as Ramona arrives.

Sex Bob-omb SPTO 27

"We'll go for yogurt..."

Backstage, Stephen is stressing out because the opening band, Crash and the Boys, pulled out. Stephen worries that they might suck, so Scott encourages him to find out if they do, by playing.

Knives and Ramona meet each other, both telling the other that they are seeing someone in the band. Julie asks who, but before Ramona can answer, Sex Bob-omb starts playing. Minutes after they start playing (and after Knives faints), Matthew Patel bursts through the roof, having arrived to fight Scott.

Capture215

"Mister Pilgrim!"

Matthew attempts to land a blow on Scott, but he blocks it and redirects it by using a Reversal. Patel introduces himself as Ramona's first Evil ex-boyfriend. Scott asks why he is here, explaining that didn't read his letter. Matthew, furious at the fact that he delivered it through a blizzard for nothing, explains that Ramona has seven evil exes, that he must defeat in order to date her.

Capture449

"I... won? I WON!"

Ramona explains that she dated Matthew in middle school: it was football season, and the jocks were after her. Since Patel was the only non-white, non-jock kid in the school, they joined forces to defeat all the jocks, with help from Matthew's mystical powers and Ramona's brute strength. They only kissed once and ended it after a week and a half. Matthew did not get really evil until high school, but he was far away from Ramona.

Matthew and Scott continue their fight, but through some twist, Matthew ends up as the victor, shocking Scott's friends and family. Matthew proudly exclaims his victory, while Ramona stares despondently at the $2.10 Scott has left behind.
