A running gag which features in in graphic novels and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World is when Stacey calls Scott at abrupt times throughout the books and film, mostly thanks to the intervention of Wallace Wells who tells Stacey about what Scott has been up to.
History[]
"What's this I hear about you dating a high schooler?"[]
At the beginning of the the first book and the film, Wallace phones Stacey, alerting him that he is dating a high schooler. Scott immediately gets a phone call from Stacey which asks abruptly "What's this I hear about you dating a high schooler?", Scott responds by asking Stacey who told him to which Stacey replies "Wallace!". She threatens to tell their parents about this, but Scott isn't worried as they are in Europe. When she asks why he is doing this, he tells her it's a nice thing to do and it is helping cope with his breakup with Envy Adams.
"What, just to destroy your soul?"[]
In Volume 2, she calls Scott, asking if Ramona broke up with him because of Knives. Scott asked how she even knew Ramona, so she told him that she kept coming into the Second Cup, before recounting an incident where Knives attacked them at the Toronto Reference Library and tried to kill Ramona before escaping. Scott also informed her that Envy Adams had called and she responded by saying "What, just to destroy your soul?"
"What's he done this time? What did you do this time?"[]
Scott phones Stacey later on asking if he could meet up at her work, Stacey immediately assumes it is Wallace by asking "What's he done this time?" but Scott tells her that it is him, Stacey then responds by asking Scott "What did you do this time?", Scott tells her that he has done nothing and that he wants to meet her, Stacey tells her that she is literally about to leave. Scott then hangs up after telling her that he is coming in. When entering Second Cup, Scott confronts Julie, to which Scott asks what Julie has done to her sister to which Stacey knocks on the glass and tells Scott that she has to go before walking off.
