Trivia[]

I think it's incorrect to say that this Scott has diverged from the main timeline because he "has not grown up that much." The final episode makes it pretty clear, at least as far as I can tell, that the reason Old/Older Scott turned out this way is because Ramona chose to end things with him. The overall arc of the series, with Ramona meeting her evil exes and seeing how her callous treatment of them (Patel, Lee, and Roxie specifically) was the reason that they ended up becoming evil exes, and this arc is brought together when Ramona realizes that this is also what happened to Older Scott. She walked out on him, and the pain of their breakup caused him to, in essence, become another evil ex. It seems pretty clear from the multiple references to the comics in Old Scott's backstory that O'Malley intended for Old Scott to be the future version of Scott from the books, rather than an alternate timeline Scott, and that the reason for his behavior in the series is due to Ramona's treatment of him rather than his inability to grow up. • Maybe Older Scott really IS from an alternative timeline. I mean, there's no reference of him gaining the Power of Self-Respect/Understanding, is there? At least, that's kina what I believe anyway...
