Gideon's role in Scott's memory issues[]

In Scott Pilgrim's Precious Little Life, before Ramona's first appearance, the discussions between Kim and Scott suggest that this was his usual behaviour. Also, when discussing Trainspotting he hardly remembers what it was about. Later, he appears to be perplexed by something when showing the house he used to live in to Knives. All of these examples are prior to his obsession with Ramona, even though it is such a minor part of the books. Overall, this is Scott's typical behaviour throughout all six issues and his friends act like this is typical of him and not a new development. During the battle with the Negascott in Scott Pilgrim's Finest Hour, Kim urges him to stop running from his past because "if you keep forgetting your mistakes, you'll just keep making them again."

Also, in Scott Pilgrim's Finest Hour Gideon stated that he "may have spiced (Scott's) memories up a little", not changing them completely, and Ramona specificly said "extra damage".Xtfftc 14:18, April 28, 2011 (UTC)

Did it ever occur to you that it was BECAUSE of Gideon's meddling that Scott's memory was so messed up in the first place?Sonic &Scrab Master Screw the rules, I have money! 18:06, April 28, 2011 (UTC)

Yep, of course it is a possibility. However, most of the story is not told as a past event but as happening at the moment. So, it is safe to concur that what we saw in the beginning of Scott Pilgrim's Precious Little Life, before Ramona appears and before Patel is defeated, was not affected by Gideon but was Scott's "real" view of the events at the time. And, as I already pointed out, Scott's friends expressed no surprise at his behaviour even after he started dating Ramona, which suggests that it was typical of him.

I am okay with both theories being mentioned as possible explanations but the previous version stated it as a fact that it was only because of Gideon that Scott had distorted and missing memories, which was never confirmed. Xtfftc 00:26, May 5, 2011 (UTC)
